Autumn in Wharfedale

I had a great afternoon in Wharfedale in the Yorkshire Dales last week with a series of heavy showers interspersed with brighter spells creating some fantastic conditions for photography (despite having to quickly pack away my gear for protection on several occasions).

This was my favourite shot of the day, taken from the path up to Buckden Pike, in the last few seconds before the valley was covered with cloud and just before the first drops of rain landed on the camera lens. These transitions between weather nearly always make for great light and drama, and the low sun just peeping through the gap between cloud and land really showed off the autumn colours.
